Washington, D. C. — Dr. Elliott J. Alpher has dedicated more than 30 years of his career to improving the lives of his patients suffering with Craniofacial Pain and Sleep Disorders in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area. His extensive training and commitment to diligent research continues to earn him commendable recognition from his colleagues.
Upon attending the annual scientific session of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain in Ft. Worth, Texas, the Board of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain honored Dr. Alpher with the prestigious Charles R. Holt Humanitarian Service Award. This highly regarded achievement has only been conferred three other times in the history of the Academy prior to its presentation to Dr. Alpher in July 2012.
Additionally, Dr. Alpher's remarkable efforts to advance treatment of Craniofacial Pain and Sleep Disorders have led to his election by vote of membership to the Board of Directors of the Academy, as well as the Master of Excellence Degree following the successful passing of a rigorous written and oral examination, thesis and defense of three treated cases. Recently, he has also had the pleasure of being appointed Secretary of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at George Washington University Medical Center. Both the Oral Surgery and Trauma Center at the facility are now fully equipped to offer optimal training to oral surgery residents as a result of Dr. Alpher's dedication in mentoring its reorganization.
As his impressive list of accolades grows, Dr. Alpher remains humbly dedicated to his successful practice and his patients. He continues to commit his time and energy to assisting those with Craniofacial Pain and Sleep Disorders by mentoring others and authoring research articles for scientific journals. In August 2012, Dr. Alpher was appointed to the Board of Directors of the District of Columbia Sleep Society, furthering his dedication to the integration of oral appliances into sleep medicine. Dr. Alpher continues to be dedicated to treating sleep disorders, and follows the protocol standards set by the Board of The American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
